Following last year’s successful collaboration with Neighbourhood, Three Buns is back again this time with a new collection. Not playing to one’s expectation, the popular Burgers & Cocktails joint is partnering up with the noted English illustrator, Fergus Purcell, or better known as Fergadelic.
Known for his fluency in the “language of subcultures”, especially the skateboard culture, Fergadelic is best known for playing a huge part in the re-launch of Marc by Marc Jacobs in 2014 under the helm of Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley. Fergadelic’s bold graphic prints, which combined the design vocabularies of skateboarding, BMX and motocross, won positive reviews in the fashion industry.
Reinstating his love for motocross in this collection, the artist reimagined Three Buns with psychedelic funk prints – a red car is sandwiched between the burger buns and another amusing print of burger is seen wearing sunglasses several sizes too small. Fergadelic even gave the joint’s mascot, Wilfred the bulldog, a makeover. The bulldog print, which features Wilfred all grown up with a gratifying weather-beaten face, can be found not only on t-shirt and sweater but also on pin and cushion.
In tandem with the launch, Executive Chef Adam Penney has also created Moto Burger, a gloriously messy burger that comes with 120g beef patty and fried tempeh, to be washed down with Fergalada Cocktail, a twist on the classic pina colada.
If the previous collection with Neighbourhood was clean and calculated, then the latest collection with Fergadelic is no doubt bold, handsome and yet deliberately askew, much like the joint’s popular burgers.
Three Buns X Fergadelic collection is available at Three Buns until the end of May 2016. The Moto Burger and Fergalada Cocktail specially crafted for the occasion with also be available until the end of May 2016.
