We The Fest returns bigger than ever this summer, with a two-day format. Here’s everything that went down last weekend.

Just as the summer seemed to be going around its final bend, We The Fest 2016 returns to Jakarta, seemingly jump-starting the latter part of 2016 with a bang. Although anyone who went would attest that most of the weekend came under a torrential downpour, it wasn’t any reason to stop the ardent festivalgoers.

This year, anticipated headliners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mark Ronson, The 1975, and The Temper Trap graced the stage with a level of panache that could be expected from artists of such stature. Moreover, this year’s rendition of We The Fest also presented audiences with a more diverse line-up. Appearances of artists from a wider variety of genres such as Korean-Pop superstar CL, alternative hip-hop pioneer Ta-Ku, nu-disco household names Breakbot and Irfane, as well as Dutch EDM DJ Sam Feldt all attest to this.

Of course, international artists weren’t the only ones to perform during the festival. Staple Indonesian bands Sheila on 7 and Naif, along with other Indonesian acts such as Barasuara, Polka Wars and Kimokal were also met with large enthusiasm by audiences. And who could ignore the much-anticipated performance from the viral rapper sensation Rich Chigga, who made his debut performance during the festival.

Seamlessly combining music, fashion, and culture, We The Fest is quickly becoming a staple event in the Jakartan summer.
