The renowned Potato Head has collaborated with cult Japanese label Wacko Maria for a series of limited three hand-illustrated shirts that are inspired by Bali.

Potato Head Family, the famous Indonesian-based lifestyle hospitality group, has always been known for collaborating with noted talents from different industries such as fashion and art. The former is one particular area that many will find familiar.

For the past couple of years, Three Buns, an establishment under the group specialising in gourmet burger, has scored two capsule collections in collaboration with cult Japanese label NEIGHBORHOOD in 2015 and artist Fergadelic in 2016. Needless to say, what resulted was highly covetable merchandise that reflected the group’s ability to combine various disciplines with ease while putting their own spin on it.

To kick the year off in high spirit, the flagship brand of the group, Potato Head has joined forces with the famous cult Japanese label, Wacko Maria for a series of three hand-illustrated shirts. The design – “Bali Collage Dancer”, “Mystic Island” and “Bali Tropics” – was hand-illustrated by the Wacko Maria’s design team as an impression on the famous Island of the Gods.

In celebration of the collaboration, Potato Head marked the launch of the limited-run merchandise by throwing global launch parties in Jakarta and Bali last weekend. The highlight of the night was definitely the DJ set by Wacko Maria’s very own Killer Tunes Broadcast, where the label’s founder, former professional footballer Atsuhiko Mori, personally administered the beats.

And if the ecstatic crowd and the nearly sold-out merchandise during the launch party were any indication, you can be sure there will be more exciting collaborations to come in the near future from Potato Head Family.
