IPMI returned for the 30th Trend Show this year with a focus on the diversity of Indonesian cultures from a collective of noted Indonesian designers.

Since its founding in 1986, Ikatan Perancang Mode Indonesia, or better known as IPMI, has been consistently presenting its annual fashion shows by a collective of noted Indonesian designers, which includes Tri Handoko, Yongki Budisutisna, Stella Rissa and Hian Tjen. Returning for the 30th time this year, IPMI Trend Show 2017 showcased collections under the unifying theme of “Love”, which placed a significant spotlight on the diverse cultures of Indonesia.

From the period of 8th to 11th November, held in Senayan City, the event were divided into two sections: White Cube and Mini Runway. The former is a stark white space where designers are able to transformed them to fit the concept of their collections. While the latter adhered to the traditional show presentation through the use of fashion runway.

Era Soekamto, who is also the Creative Director of Iwan Tirta Collection, drew inspiration from the strength and gentleness of traditional Javanese women. Elsewhere, Mel Ahyar collaborated with Indonesian painter, Jeihan Sukmantoro and applied the enigmatic paintings of women onto her couture collection.
