2nd December 2014
Initiated from three product designers' will to express their views on Indonesian design, Project Khatulistiwa was formed.

Project Khatulistiwa – consisting of Denny R. Priyatna, Euginio Hendro of Nook Living and Nadia Pramudita of General Object – was initially formed to exhibit their latest products at Asia Talents Exhibition in Bangkok, Thailand from 19th to 23rd October 2014. Asia Talents Exhibition is also well-known for being a reputable show that showcase some of the best Asia Pacific designers.

Working under the theme “Nature, People and Culture”, the three designers designed their products in response to the current zeitgeist in Indonesia and also search for a way to preserve Indonesian cultures at the same time.

Extending Project Khatulistiwa’s exhibition, the show was then reproduced at Dia.Lo.Gue Artspace in conduction with sMart Dia.Lo.Gue. For the latter exhibition, Project Khatulistiwa designs were extended throughout the whole event. One of them was the “Warung Table” where it was utilised to display products from the tenants. The “Warung Table” was the three designers’ modern interpretation of a vernacular product, which was turned into a functional, yet aesthetically pleasing product. The table was constructed from synthetic rattan and detachable raw aluminium structure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor.

The exhibition has effectively reached both international and national audience in a short amount of time. And it will be only a matter of time before the next one comes along.
