The modern Thai restaurant originating from Bangkok, Greyhound has branched out to Jakarta, bringing their playful take on Thai cuisine over at Mall of Grand Indonesia.

First started out as a menswear line back in the 80s at Bangkok, Greyhound began to venture into the f&b scene in 1997. With their elevated Thai dishes with a twist, the first Greyhound Café became an instant hit. Soon, the establishment started to make its way into other countries, such as Hong Kong, Singapore and has recently reached the shore of Jakarta.

Located right beside the lobby of Grand Indonesia Mall, Greyhound is bustling with diners throughout the day. Part of the charm is its interior, where it is dominated in monochrome palette and artworks inspired by famous pop art artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Over at the back of the establishment, booth seats are located right beside window panes that hark back to earlier times. Outside, a line of cactus plants gives the impression of a backyard as if you’re back in a relative’s home.

When it comes to food, Greyhound takes its pride in its plethora of options for diners to choose from. Starting from the appetisers, Salmon Carpaccio in Spicy Hot Sauce is definitely a real crowd-pleaser as it combines fresh sashimi with a fiery sour kick. Another superb choice is their simple Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings, where it’s marinated with fish sauce and fried till crisp. For mains, classics such as Pad Thai and Noodle in Tom Yum Koong are on offering.

But if you’re in the mood for something different than your go-to Thai dish, have a go at choices like Crispy Pork Leg with Curry Paste. Plus, vegetarians should take comfort that Greyhound looks out for them too. But no matter what your pick is, be sure to wash them down with their signature Granita Thai Iced Tea.

In a short amount of time, Greyhound has swiftly become the buzz of the town. Whether for lunch, dinner or just a short break, diners can be seen occupying most of the space. And you can be sure that they are there for the combination of modern Thai dishes and the downbeat atmosphere.
