Take Five at LIMA

After years where it has been discreetly serving coffee for nearby residents, LIMA is coming out its old shell and proudly serving chocolatey treats with coffee in Pantai Indah Kapuk.

Those who are familiar with Pantai Indah Kapuk area may have heard of LIMA, a cosy café tucked in the row of shop houses on Gold Coast. LIMA has been there long before the wave of coffeeshops took over Jakarta in the recent years, discreetly offering nearby residents and regulars with a place they can call home, away from home. After years of quietly carving their own path, LIMA has revamped not only its home but overhauled its menu as well.

The coffeeshop’s new look is still sporting the industrial aesthetic it already had. But this time around, it is approached through a modern minimalist interpretation, leaving aside the rustic brick wall and repurposed wooden crates for clean concrete and potted greeneries. With a glass wall as the entire front façade of the building, frequenting the remodeled venue on a bright Sunday morning sounds about a relieving activity you can think of doing for next time. For the work-oriented, catch your deadline by heading to the upper floor where you can work in peaceful seclusion without feeling left-out.

Food-wise, LIMA has a selection of home-cooked plates and light bites to treat the appetite. The creamy truffle pasta with pork belly or the pesto chicken pasta are best churned down with the delightful “Kaffir Lime Pineapple” or a cold “Coconut Watermelon.”

But if you want to truly talk about treats, the real indulgence at LIMA is chocolate and coffee. The establishment prides itself in serving home-baked goods and desserts that are based with chocolate. The “70% flourless chocolate cake” is a guiltless sponge cake best indulged with your preferred choice of coffee. For the sweet-toothed, try their “Coklat Banting,” a citrusy chocolate mousse served in a chocolate bowl garnished with more chocolate crumbs.

It’s easy to picture LIMA becoming a go-to spot for nearby residents to frequent on the daily. For those who will happen to be in the area, it won’t hurt to take five at LIMA.
