On The Label is a series where we place the spotlight on various local fashion labels through a brief and digestible introduction. Now we shift our gaze to Phantasma*Studio, a menswear label that just launched its debut collection in one striking hue and an attitude to boot.

Phantasma*Studio may have just arrived at the local fashion industry, but with its clean silhouette and distinctive attitude, it’s a safe bet that the label would not just be a passing trend.

Founded by Eric Liem, the name Phantasma*Studio was inspired from an old album called “Fantasma” by Cornelius, a Japanese musician. Enthralled by the harmonious fusion of various musical genres in the album, Eric then implemented the same concept to his designs; bringing forth the idea of having “no boundaries”.

The label launched earlier this year with its first collection, “Gordon Blue”, highlighting modern constructs of the West culture with traditional elements of the East in one striking cobalt blue colourway. As its debut, the label features Oriental workwear shirt with cheongsam-inspired buttons and Americana, which is a basic, more straightforward wear.

Boasting straight outline that speaks easy, the label’s sporty look exudes a strong, graceful quality that is unique in its own – all the more appealing not only to men, but to women as well. Although Phantasma*Studio is still – at the most – a fledgling, its gripping personality is a proof that it deserves to sit on a par with other established local menswear brand.
