At its newest outpost in PIM 5, Scarlett’s reflects on a decade of growth through an all-day dining experience designed to move comfortably into any moment of a day at the mall.

Marking its 10th year, Scarlett’s opens a new outpost at PIM 5, reflecting how far the brand has come since sisters Martina and Jasmine Djohan began in Batam with a dessert-focused concept. Like its Scarlett’s House counterpart in Blok M, this location moves into an all-day dining format that feels more settled.

The space sets the tone early. Designed by K.E.R.A Design Studio, it leans more restrained than its predecessor, with ironwood surfaces, neutral tones, and a layout that feels open without being sparse. There are still traces of Scarlett’s earlier identity, in the postcards lining the walls and the familiar display of cakes. It becomes apparent once seated that the menu has moved in a similar direction. Cakes remain, but they no longer define the experience. Instead, the offering stretches across the day, bringing together dishes that are effortless and considered.

In the morning, the PIM-exclusive Breakfast Hash gathers familiar elements into a single plate, sourdough, eggs, potatoes, and avocado, balanced in a way that feels straightforward and easy to return to. It pairs naturally with drinks like the Tiramisu Latte, which sits somewhere between coffee and dessert without leaning too far into either.

By midday onwards, the table begins to fill differently. Smaller plates like Kembang Turi Tempura arrive first, light and crisp, before giving way to larger dishes meant to be shared. The Half-roasted Chicken, served with negi shio rice, carries that sense of ease, portions passed around without much thought, conversation continuing in between. There are moments of play within the menu, as with the Doenjang Carbonara, but they sit comfortably within the broader offering rather than defining it. Much like the space itself, nothing feels overemphasised.

The breadth of the offering is matched by the variety of guests who settle into the space throughout the day. Mornings bring a slower crowd, parents lingering after school drop-offs, while later hours see a younger mix arriving from the mall. The setting allows for both, accommodating different paces without needing to adjust. Desserts, when they arrive, feel more like a natural continuation. A Dark Chocolate Mousse, for instance, closes the meal without drawing too much attention to itself.

Described by Martina as more “mature, raw, and confident,” this iteration of Scarlett’s reflects a brand that has grown into its own rhythm. At PIM 5, that maturity comes through not in any single element, but in how everything settles into place.
