When Cipete’s favourite SRSLY Coffee unexpectedly closed its doors late last year, the news was a significant blow to coffee devotees. Finally, after a five-month hiatus, SRSLY is back in business, still occupying its previous home.
Avid frequenters of SRSLY would realise that there’s hardly any change to the coffee shop as they step into the establishment. The wooden coffee bar that ushers in familiar faces as well as curious newcomers; its indoor area, where high school students often claim the bar stools for hours and solo visitors park themselves in the corner with a laptop on; and the sprawling outdoor with hanging potted ferns, a laid-back area that’s always lively.
And those who have missed their coffee terribly shall not worry, for they could instantly find comfort in their house blend or manual brew, which features Single Origin beans from selected coffee roasteries. Another one that also shan’t be missed is SRSLY’s Iced Honey Latte, a healthier alternative to the ubiquitous “es kopi susu.”
Popular both for its coffee and food, the coffee shop is packed with early birds seeking substantial breakfast on weekends. Though they have yet introduced their food after the re-opening, they’ve given out hints that the new menu will arrive bigger and better, with old favourites as well as exciting new dishes.
All in all, the return of SRSLY is a thrilling comeback, especially with all its familiar aspects still intact. Plus, there’s an important lesson that can be harvested from here – you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.
