By now regulars to independent club cum restaurant, The Safehouse would no doubt have learnt that the establishment has moved from its previous spot at Lingkar Mega Kuningan to a new home just a stone’s throw away in the building of Menara Anugrah.
At nighttime, Safehouse is known as one of the lit clubs in town, administering beats from a mixture of underground and established local musicians. There’s little wonder why this place is where the cool cats hang. Just drop by during the weekend and you’ll get the picture.
The hip factor is further bolstered by its interior that managed to combine a quality that is both clinical and moody. It brings to mind a house party where one leisurely enjoy a cigarette or two outside before heading indoor to lose themselves with the tunes.
But once the sun is up, Safehouse switched into another face altogether. The ample sunlight that streams in through panels of windows near the entrance immediately leaves an impression. To put it simply, Safehouse wants you to party hard and eat clean.
By day, their kitchen serves up palatable dishes sourced from local produce that’s dictated by seasonal availability. To wit, Caryopses Threefold is a salad made with various grains, fruits and vegetables that is just hard to resist. Even their pulled duck burger, Anatidae, feels light and just right though the portion is anything but small.
Some may view The Safehouse as being too polarising, donning two different masks at the same time. But that’s also part of their charm, a wicked sense of humour that’s bubbling just beneath the surface. By the way, Safehouse is located right beside a private hospital. Whether that’s on purpose or not, it’s undeniably a perfect coincidence.
