Go Ahead Challenge, which is said to be the biggest and longest running art competition in the country, ends this Saturday with its Artwarding Night. Run by Sampoerna A, this year’s challenge runs from February to June, opening up opportunities for Indonesia’s young creative minds to channel their ideas into creating outstanding artworks.
With four fields of expertise/subculture – music, photography, visual graphic, and style – that are being contested, the challenge has seen thousands of submissions from the whole country. However, there’s only one winner from each subculture who will earn the prized trophy of partaking in Melbourne Fringe Festival, the biggest art celebration in Melbourne, Australia.
The task of screening thousands of applicants rested on the shoulders of noted personalities from these four fields. They are Ade Darmawan (Visual Graphic), Arian13 (Music), Anton Ismail (Photography) and Auguste Soesastro (Fashion). Don’t fret if you’ve missed out the chance to partake in this nationwide competition. You can still soak yourself in the event’s celebratory spirit through its Artwarding Night.
A platform where creative communities collaborate, Artwarding Night will play host to a number of exciting collaborative projects throughout the day; starting from exciting workshops (hosted by the four curators), a pop-up market where established local labels join hands (LocalBrand x Loveliness, Osem x Ruppa, Bluesville x Vojey to name a few), and last but not least, a night of collaborative music performances from local bands (White Shoes and The Couples Company x Sentimental Moods and Efek Rumah Kaca x Barasuara).
Artwarding Night is on Saturday, August 22nd at Gudang Sarinah, Jakarta Selatan. Event starts from 10am.
