At the famous Bubur Kwang Tung in Pecenongan Street, supper cravings are satisfied, Canton style.

If there is a resume for every restaurant, then one will be easily star-struck by Bubur Kwang Tung’s. Lined up across the walls are numerous pictures of local celebrities whose smiling faces served as an unofficial stamp of approval. But of course, Bubur Kwang Tung is worth visiting not just because celebrities frequent it. After all, it is the food that draws them in, in the first place.

Bubur Kwang Tung literally means Crab Porridge and thus, it is no brainer as to what to order here. The warm and light texture of the porridge blends superbly with the sweet crabmeat. Variety is the highlight here. There are plenty of different meat selections when it comes to the porridge – chicken, prawn, scallop, abalone and even turtle.

The variety doesn’t just apply to porridge alone. Take your pick among numerous choices of seafood-oriented menu, in the style of Canton, which also provides you with reason to come back again and again. Patrons will also be glad to know that the famous Martabak Pecenongan 65a (also famous for its long wait), is just a few metres down the street, making this a perfect dining spot to kill time while waiting for your martabak order.

Still, the best part of all is that Bubur Kwang Tung is open 24 hours. So for those who prefer to opt for a light supper, Bubur Kwangtung’s porridge is it. Plus, who knows, you might just bump into a reclusive celebrity during the wee hours.
