At Lifted, the Medical Spa Believes Less is More

Billed as the city’s first medical spa, Lifted in Senopati taps into a discerning generation’s desire for personalised, thoughtful approaches to beauty and ageing.

Jakarta is a city where the passing of time can easily be measured not by the seasons but by the steady procession of social occasions. The calendar revolves around gatherings—weddings, family reunions, and festive rituals—that, while convivial in spirit, come with a silent yet persistent expectation: to show up looking your best.

While beauty remains a subjective pursuit, the ecosystem surrounding it has become increasingly defined. Aesthetic care in the city now spans LED facials, radiofrequency treatments, injectables, and laser resurfacing—procedures once sought primarily by more mature clients, now embraced by a younger, urban crowd.

Notably, those in their twenties and thirties are approaching these treatments less as corrective measures and more as a form of preventative care. Or more precisely, as a way to “prejuvenate”—a beauty term coined to describe the early adoption of aesthetic treatments not as a quick fix, but as a proactive approach, well before any visible signs of ageing appear.

It’s within this evolving framework that Lifted has found its footing. Tucked in Senopati, the med-spa—founded by Eugenia Gegero and Jo Reiner—positions itself at the intersection of clinical dermatology and wellness. Billed as Jakarta’s first medical spa, Lifted merges scientifically-based skin treatments with a softer spatial and hospitality language that distances itself from the hyper-clinical environments typical of its sector.

Central to Lifted’s approach is the philosophy of slow ageing, a conscious departure from the promise of anti-ageing, a term the founders believe is both unrealistic and medically misleading. “Anti-ageing implies you can stop time,” said Jo. “But what we believe in is a gradual, consistent approach. We’ve seen younger clients prefer to start earlier, taking small, consistent steps instead of chasing dramatic changes.”

Raised in the U.S. and trained in the beauty business as a skincare buyer in New York, Eugenia—or simply Gigi—recalls feeling increasingly disillusioned with the transactional nature of the industry. “So much of it is about selling volume,” she said. “You walk into a clinic, and it feels like you’re just another number. Rarely do they take the time to really understand your needs. In some cases, they even prescribe more than what’s necessary. That’s what started our research into what eventually became Lifted.”

Rather than pushing one-size-fits-all packages, Lifted’s range of treatments is tiered and tailored to the client. Preventative Botox, for example, is offered at different levels depending on the client’s lifestyle, age, and desired outcome.

Other offerings, such as the Diamond Glow Facial, Skin Booster, or custom Bridal packages, are similarly adapted based on in-depth consultations with doctors. Recognising that no two individuals respond to the same treatment or dose in the same way, the team avoids pre-set treatment templates altogether, instead crafting bespoke skincare plans that reflect each client’s evolving needs.

“We see this as a long-term relationship. Slow ageing isn’t about quick fixes—it’s a gradual, consistent process,” Gigi explained. “ That’s why we place such importance on education. We encourage every client to consult directly with our doctors to understand the true condition of their skin and what it actually needs—because more often than not, it’s different from what they think they want.”

Similar thinking extends to what makes it onto the treatment menu. Services like Pico laser or fillers, for instance, are still under consideration, not because they’re ineffective, but because Gigi and Jo insist on experiencing every treatment firsthand before adding it to their menu. “We need to understand how it feels on our own skin, how it reacts over time. Only then will we be confident enough to recommend it to our clients,” Gigi explained.

Since their soft opening three months ago, Lifted has welcomed many first-timers to beauty treatments, who, as observed by team have a growing openness to view facials and skin therapies not as luxuries, but as part of their self-care and wellness routines.

Designed to feel more like a wellness sanctuary than a conventional clinic, a site-specific art installation greets visitors at the entrance, cleverly depicting a needle rendered with curved edges and a pastel palette. Inside, natural textures and gently rounded forms continue the calming effect, while the brand’s signature soft blue—chosen for its soothing qualities to “calm the jitters”—serves as a visual anchor throughout the space.

“We’re definitely seeing a shift. Currently, about 20–30% of our clients are men, many of whom begin their self-care journey with facials. But increasingly, we’re also seeing more men choosing treatments like preventative Botox,” explained Jo. “I believe this shift is largely driven by the younger generation. With greater access to information and more visible representation, these treatments are becoming more normalised and accepted across all genders.”

In many ways, Lifted reflects a broader shift in how beauty and wellness is being understood. In a very fast-paced, trend-driven beauty landscape, perhaps the most radical act is not to reverse time, but to embrace it with intention and on one’s own terms.
