Opened recently last year in Muara Karang, a mecca for Chinese food, Bakmi Tambo fits right into this northern neighbourhood that is synonymous with pork, by bringing their specialty pork-only noodle.
Staying true to what they do best, Bakmi Tambo’s menu is strictly devoted to their signature noodle as the restaurant’s sole main dish. Expect to have a hearty serving of the chewy pork noodle bedecked with finger-licking adornments: wonton (also available à la carte), slices of pork that had been marinated with soy sauce, fried braised pork belly (or fondly known as samcan), deep-fried lard, and the obligatory warm bowl of broth to top it all off. Though the portion is already generous, for those who come in famished, the jumbo size noodle will do just the trick.
Aside from noodle, it is actually their drool-worthy fried samcan that truly steals the spotlight, which will definitely have you hankering for more. This delight can be ordered as an à la carte in small-size portions and will make do when those pork atop your noodle aren’t enough to satisfy your pork-craving.
When the guilty of having a pork fiesta strikes on you, wash it all down with their eccentric house-specialty beverage, namely Michael Jackson, a drink composed of cincau (grass jelly), soymilk and malt. Or instead, dash across the street and treat yourself to a cup of espresso or latte from the neighbouring Cameo Lane Coffee.
