One of Southeast Asia’s largest and most comprehensive contemporary art fairs, ART STAGE Jakarta is back for their second international edition this weekend.

After last year’s success in bringing together diverse and distinct Southeast Asian art galleries and collectors together, ART STAGE Jakarta returns again this year from August 11th to 13th, 2017 in Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel. With a strong support from leading figures in Indonesian art scene, visitors can expect a bigger and more diverse art fair in terms of size, content, and participating countries.

The event presents work from over 50 selected galleries from around the world, along with innovative art projects by Indonesian, Southeast Asian and European artists. ART STAGE’s commitment in recognising the top key figures in Indonesian art scene manifests in their first ever Art Award for Indonesia. Initiated by one of the local top collectors, Alex Tedja, it aims to present awards that celebrate authenticity, leadership, excellence and quality.

Apart from the award and main exhibition, creative events and activities are also peppered throughout the weekend to celebrate the best of the Indonesian art world. One of the new events, Off The Wall sees European and Southeast Asian artists paired together to create their own take on urban art pieces. ART STAGE Jakarta is also expanding their fair from the main exhibition in Sheraton Hotel to the atrium of the Gandaria City Mall, which will be the home to what will be known as The Art Square during the event. Starting from August 9th, this section will be showcasing artwork from upcoming artists from a variety of art institutions, young galleries and art groups.

In addition, ART STAGE Jakarta is also presenting their first ever ART STAGE Jakarta Week, highlighting Jakarta as a competitive art capital with a range of events and activities that are happening across the city during the weekend. Galeri Nasional Indonesia, the Museum MACAN, and the Museum Seni Rupa & Keramik are a few of the cultural institutions that will be playing host to a few of these events over the week. Special exhibitions, art talks, workshops and tours will also be taking places at many local galleries as well, such as ROH Projects and Salihara Gallery.

ART STAGE Jakarta 2017 will be held for public viewing from August 12th from 1pm-9pm and August 13th from 11am-9pm at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City, level 3 with several ART STAGE Jakarta events taking place until August 13th 2017.
